This detailed scale Timothy Richards doorway model of one of London’s most iconic political entrance ways would make a stunning statement piece for any mantelpiece, bookshelf or display cabinet.
The official residence of the British Prime minister in Westminster, London. No.10 Downing Street is possibly the most photographed and famous front door of any politician in the western world.
The building is over 300 years old and contains around 100 rooms. The land on which Downing Street stands was originally bought in 1654 by Sir George Downing; the notorious spy for Oliver Cromwell. He intended that town-houses on this street be built “for persons of good quality to inhabit…”. In 1732, three buildings were offered to Sir Robert Walpole who commissioned William Kent to join them together to become No.10 Downing Street.
